Data collection

The STATECORP project employs robust research methods and data to analyze hundreds of state corporations and corporatization patterns across 70 years. The methodological approaches include state-of-the-art quantitative analyses, which provide a broad, data-driven analysis of state corporations in Norway and Sweden from 1950 to 2020. These quantitative methods are complemented by case studies, which offer in-depth, context-rich insights into specific state corporations.

The project's data sources span across governmental archives, state corporations’ records, legislative documents, strategy documents, and annual reports of hundreds of state corporations in Norway and Sweden. By combining large quantitative data sets with in-depth qualitative data, STATECORP offers a comprehensive view of the structural dynamics corporatization and its consequences at the fringes of the public sector. This methodological rigor ensures that the project's findings are both empirically robust and theoretically grounded, contributing valuable insights to scholarly and practical debates on the evolution of modern democratic states.
